What is music like when it’s gone? What are smells like when they’re gone? What is love like when it’s gone? Not the music itself, the petals themselves, the lover … but the sensation?

Percy Bysshe Shelley has been here before. He’s never been my favorite of the English Romantics, but his short poem here packs a short punch on an idea: How do things linger on? I’ll print it in full, thanks to its brevity:
